After the federal government announced a $2.49 billion investment in 11 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) for Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on Tuesday, MP Kody Blois said that RCAF pilots will still operate the planes, but from Ottawa. He said this will help ensure the pilots’ safety and allow for longer capability in harder-to-fly areas like the Arctic.
