Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced byelections in two ridings on Sunday, with voters in Winnipeg’s Elmwood-Transcona constituency and in the Montreal riding of LaSalle—Émard—Verdun to choose new members of parliament on Sept. 16. After a shocking upset last month when the Liberals lost what was thought to be a safe seat in Toronto—St. Paul’s, all eyes will be on these two upcoming by-elections. Melissa Ridgen explains.
