Two seniors were rushed to hospital after being struck by a pickup truck in the village of Lakefield, Ont., on Monday evening.
The Peterborough Police Service says the collision occurred around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Queen and Concession streets.
An 81 year-old woman and an 86-year old man were both transported by paramedics to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Police say the woman was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital.
The roadway was closed for over four hours as police investigated.

UPDATE March 12, 2025: Police say the woman has since died of her injuries.
As a result, a 52-year-old Lakefield man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing death, careless driving causing bodily harm and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
He will appear in court in Peterborough on May 26, 2025.
