City of Kawartha Lakes homeowners will see taxes increase by 6.7 per cent next year. Adopted on Nov. 26, the 2025 budget includes the municipality’s largest capital budget ever. Around half will be used to improve current facilities, such as the Emily-Omemee Arena Ice Pad System, updated runaways at the municipal airport, and resurfacing CKL Roads 41 and 38. The rest of the capital spending will go to expansionary projects, including 65 affordable housing units in Fenelon Falls and Minden, as well as new paramedics headquarters. As well, funding for police services makes up 2.2 per cent of the tax hike. Part of what kept the levy from being higher is unanticipated, additional money from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.
