‘We must be masters in our own home’: Carney warns Canada amid looming trade war with U.S.
Description
February 11, 2025
Speaking to reporters in Regina, Sask., about the impending trade war between Canada and the U.S., Liberal leader candidate Mark Carney said Tuesday that Canada has “options" as U.S. President Donald Trump is “violating” the CUSMA trade agreement by threatening to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico. “We must be masters in our own home,” Carney said, suggesting the 13 provinces and territories band together, utilizing each other’s resources – namely energy – to shape the country’s “economic destiny.”
