UPDATE: Senior dies after Hwy. 7 collision east of Peterborough: OPP

One person was airlifted after a SUV and a transport truck collided on Hwy. 7 east of Peterborough on Friday afternoon.

OPP responded to the collision around 2:30 p.m. in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township and reported that the driver of the SUV was first transported to hospital and then airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre.

The transport driver was not injured.

The highway was closed between Keene Road and Drummond Line as OPP investigated.

UPDATE Feb. 24: OPP say the eastbound transport struck the SUV which was exiting a business and had attempted to cross into the westbound lanes. The 76-year-old male driver from Lakefield was ejected and witnesses came to his aid before paramedics arrived.

UPDAE: March 4 – OPP report the victim died as a result his injuries on Saturday, March 1.
