Saturday marks the eve of the race to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as leader of Canada’s Liberal party. Just weeks ago, the party didn’t have much of a fighting chance to win a looming federal election, but fiery rhetoric and economic threats from south of the border have put a spring back into the party’s step, and, it seems, into the campaign of one candidate in particular. We’ll know Sunday who will become the next leader of the party, and of the entire nation will be. And, long-awaited news has arrived for the family of one of the victims of a Winnipeg serial killer. Late Friday, the Manitoba government announced remains found at a landfill north of the city belong to Morgan Harris. Harris is one of four Indigenous women murdered by Jeremy Skibicki, who is serving four life sentences for the 2022 murders.
