The Archdiocese of Vancouver is reacting to news of a newly elected pope on Thursday. Monseigneur Gregory Smith says he was surprised the conclave chose an American. He says the pope does have some connections with Canadian churches and believes his experience will be a positive for the relationship between the Catholic Church and Indigenous communities.
