There are new signs that Canada’s economy is starting to feel the strain from U.S. tariffs. The country added 7,400 jobs in April, slightly better than expected. But the unemployment rate ticked up from 6.7 to 6.9 per cent. Some of the gains were temporary hires for the federal election — masking a significant drop in manufacturing and other sectors.
