On Wednesday, Kristin Hayward and Christine Stevens from Manitoba’s Conservation Officer Service and emergency management gave an update on the wildfires ravaging the province.
Six local states of emergency have been declared, particularly highlighting a significant wildfire near Lac du Bonnet, which has led to evacuation orders for nearly 1,000 residents. Another out-of-control blaze near Bird River has already expanded to approximately 100,000 hectares, which is also “out of control at this time.” Additionally, a fire near the Ontario-Manitoba border is being closely monitored.
