It was a momentous occasion for the Catholic Church as the first-ever American Pope was officially inaugurated on Sunday. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, a practicing Catholic, attended the mass seated in the second row. In the U.S., two sailors from the Mexican navy died in New York City after their sailing ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge Saturday night. This past week, Palestinians marked 77 years since the Nakba. Arabic for 鈥渃atastrophe,鈥 Nakba refers to the mass displacement during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. Plus, with only about a month and a half to go, Carney’s goal to bring down interprovincial trade barriers by Canada Day seems like a tall order.
