During question period on Thursday, Conservative MP David Bexte opposed Prime Minister Mark Carney's oil production cap, which aims to keep half of Canada's oil reserves underground. He argued that a "keep-it-in-the-ground agenda" makes Canada more dependent on foreign oil and weakens the economy, "punishes Alberta families and Saskatchewan families who build this country's energy sector." He asked Carney, "Will he scrap a job-killing production cap and finally let Canadians restore energy independence?"
