Rumours is celebrating one year of being reopened and rebranded after the original location closed in 1997. For owners Gerald McCowan and Jose Chiu, having spaces like Rumours is vital for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Halifax – the city has seen several bars and clubs close in recent years. As they look beyond one year, they’re hoping to make Rumours a Halifax institution again and have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community.
