After a week of violent protests in Los Angeles — triggered by mass deportations from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents — Mayor Karen Bass says she wants President Donald Trump to “stop the raids.” Bass said Trump was “wasting taxpayers’ money” on deploying National Guard troops and Marines. She said she plans to call the Republican leader and ask for the “$130 million” being spent on the deployment to go towards preparations for the 2026 World Cup instead.
