Trump revives 51st state rhetoric as trade dispute grows

Canada is bracing for a new round of tension with the U.S. as a long-simmering trade dispute heats up. Monday, Ottawa’s digital services tax kicks in and it’s struck a nerve south of the border. On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump doubled down on his assertion that the trade talks with Canada are over until certain taxes are scrapped. And he’s reviving an old threat.
