Kristin Hayward, assistant deputy minister responsible for the Manitoba wildfire service, said Monday that nearby wildfires are not currently threatening Leaf Rapids, a community in northwest Manitoba, but said the decision to evacuate was based on “forecasted” wind conditions and precipitation.
