Anand highlights Indo-Pacific trade, security priorities on ASEAN tour

At a press conference on Thursday, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand emphasized Canada’s Indo-Pacific priorities, including a new security agreement with Japan and trade talks with ASEAN. She said the region is key to Canada’s economic future and stressed the need for deeper defense, diplomatic, and trade ties. Anand also noted the global shift toward instability, saying foreign policy must now reflect domestic economic interests.
