Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Wednesday she and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney have spoken over the phone and discussed how to respond to looming U.S. tariffs. Both leaders received letters from U.S. President Donald Trump warning of new import duties, including 30 per cent for Mexico and 35 per cent for Canada. Sheinbaum said she and Carney agreed on the need to defend the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) trade pact. She also proposed Canada submit its U.S. investment plans to support negotiations.
