At least 63 people were killed and nearly 300 injured in Pakistan鈥檚 Punjab province as heavy monsoon rains triggered flooding and building collapses. Officials say it was the deadliest 24-hour stretch of this year鈥檚 monsoon, with most fatalities caused by roof failures in low-income homes. The nationwide death toll since late June has climbed to 159, with more than 1,000 houses damaged. 鈥淭o save our lives, we do what we can,鈥� said one resident. 鈥淏ut the authorities haven鈥檛 lifted a finger , we鈥檙e left to fend for ourselves.鈥�
