At least 63 people were killed and nearly 300 injured in Pakistan鈥檚 Punjab province as heavy monsoon rains triggered flooding and building collapses. Officials say it was the deadliest 24-hour stretch of this year鈥檚 monsoon, with most fatalities caused by roof failures in low-income homes. The nationwide death toll since late June has climbed to 159, with more than 1,000 houses damaged. 鈥淭o save our lives, we do what we can,鈥 said one resident. 鈥淏ut the authorities haven鈥檛 lifted a finger , we鈥檙e left to fend for ourselves.鈥
