In a wildfire update on Friday, Canada’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson reported over 3,000 wildfires have occurred across the country as of July this year, burning approximately 5.5 million hectares. The federal government pledged an investment of nearly $12 million over four years to establish Wildfire Resilience Consortium Canada (WRCC). Hodgson said the consortium “will serve as a national centre of excellence for wildfire innovation and knowledge.
