The U.S. president is doing what he can to distance himself and downplay any link to the Epstein files. Today, Donald Trump instructed his attorney general to seek the release of more evidence and threatened a lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal for yesterday’s bombshell report that Trump penned a lewd letter to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, celebrating Epstein’s 50th birthday. Trump says the letter is fake, but it follows a week of turmoil that has fractured his hardline base. Jackson Proskow has more. Government officials provided an update on the wildfire situation across Canada today, saying it’s one of the worst on record and is expected to deteriorate even further. Wildfires have already torched twice the area compared to the average of the last decade. Tonight, 561 wildfires are burning, heat warning persist in the Northwest Territories, and air quality poses a risk for communities across the prairies. Neetu Garcha reports.
