E-bike rider injured in collision near Omemee: OPP

An e-bike rider was taken to hospital following a collision near Omemee early this morning.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP say the e-bike and SUV collided on a section of Emily Park Road around 5:20 a.m.

Paramedics first treated the rider at the scene before transporting them to hospital.

OPP say the rider suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Emily Park Road was closed between Highway 7 and Cottingham road until around 10 a.m.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

UPDATE JULY 24: OPP say both vehicles were travelling northbound when the e-bike was struck from behind.

Police say the e-bike did not have proper lighting. The rider suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The 27-year-old from Seabright was charged under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act with Improper Lighting on a Motor Assisted Bicycle.
