Peterborough County OPP say a woman died following a single-vehicle crash on Bensfort Road south of the city on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to the crash just south of Base Line in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township around 2:45 p.m. and found a vehicle in a ditch. A hydro pole was also knocked down.
Hydro One was required to remove downed hyrdo lines before first responders could access the vehicle.
Police say the driver and lone occupant – a 66-year-old woman from Peterborough – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bensfort Road was closed between Base Line and Assumpton Road as police investigated.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Hydro One says the crash knocked out power to 350 customers in the city and township for several hours.
