OPP divers recover body of missing canoeist from Balsam Lake in City of Kawartha Lakes

OPP divers on Wednesday recovered the body of a man who went missing on Baslam Lake north of Lindsay on Tuesday evening.
Emergency crews were first called to the lake around 6:20 p.m. following reports a man had fallen out of a canoe and had not resurfaced.
Bystanders initially responded with boats to help search for the victim.
The extensive search by OPP and Kawartha Lakes firefighters was called off due to darkness.
The search resumed Wednesday and around 1:30 p.m., the OPP”s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the body of a 75-year-old man from North York, Ont.
His identity was not released. OPP say their investigation is ongoing.
