Ahead of World Oyster Day on Wednesday, B.C. scientists may be on track to solve the mystery behind many “mass mortality events” in farmed Pacific oysters over the years. In a report released Monday, the University of British Columbia says scientists examined oysters from two farms during a mass die-off up the B.C. coast in 2020 and discovered a previously unknown RNA virus.
