Dozens of Texas Democrats are still hunkering down in states like Illinois, Massachusetts and New York despite Gov. Greg Abbott’s orders to have them arrested. The Democratic state lawmakers fled over the weekend to block a vote on redrawn congressional maps that would allow Texas Republicans to pick up more seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. The chair of the Democratic National Convention, Ken Martin, showed his support Monday saying “Democrats are fighting back. We’re not rolling over. And I’ve been saying to these Texas Republicans if you want a showdown, well, you’re going to get a showdown.
