A DeKalb County police officer was shot and killed Friday after responding to gunfire near Emory University in Atlanta, close to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC campus). Authorities say the suspect was also killed and there is no indication of a second shooter. Authorities have identified the suspect as a 30-year-old man from suburban Atlanta. No civilian injuries were reported, but officials described the loss as a 鈥渧ery dark day鈥 for the county. The officer leaves behind a wife and three children, including one unborn.
