A new facility at Trent University in Peterborough is giving students and researchers a base for fieldwork on farming and food security. The Lightbody Drive Shed was unveiled at the university’s 60-acre farm research centre.The new building will support research on natural fertilizers, drought-resistant crops, and other farming challenges– with students gaining hands-on experience and working alongside faculty and ‘community partners’ in the field. Local and provincial officials attended the opening and spoke about the importance of both rural economic development and agricultural research.
