At a press conference on Wednesday, Minister Mélanie Joly said Canada will boost defense spending to 3.5% of GDP while launching a new defence industrial strategy. She said the plan will strengthen the Canadian Armed Forces and invest in industrial capacity at home. Joly also confirmed talks with defence firms Saab and Lockheed Martin as Ottawa weighs future procurement options.
