Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) kicked off this week with a heartfelt tribute to a beloved Canadian entertainer, John Candy. The documentary “John Candy: I Like Me” drew massive names and plenty of praise 鈥 including tributes from Prime Minister Mark Carney, who called Candy a 鈥渘ational treasure.鈥 Eric Sorenson takes us inside TIFF鈥檚 opening night and shares his own memories of the comic legend’s humble beginnings.
