September marks Sickle Cell Awareness Month
Description
September 9, 2025
September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month. It’s a time to highlight the significant number of Canadians affected by this condition. It is estimated that around 6,500 Canadians live with Sickle Cell Disease, and many more may carry the trait unknowingly. Lanre Tunji-Ajayi, a global patient advocate for sickle cell disease and co-founder of both the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO) and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Canada, joins Miranda Anthistle to discuss the importance of awareness and education surrounding this health issue.
