Carney launches federal housing agency in effort to double construction pace

At a press conference on Sunday, Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled Build Canada Homes, a new federal entity aimed at supercharging affordable housing construction. The initiative includes $13 billion in initial funding, factory-built housing, and the transfer of public lands to speed up projects. Ottawa says the plan will double Canada’s housing construction pace over the next decade.
