According to Food Banks Canada’s Poverty Report Card, poverty and food insecurity in Canada have surged by nearly 40 per cent in just two years. The federal government has received a disappointing grade of ‘D’ for its efforts in poverty reduction, putting the country at what Food Banks Canada describes as an “historic crossroads.” Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada, joins Miranda Anthistle to discuss the alarming findings and their implications for Canadians.
