Switzerland’s famed Gries Glacier is melting at a frightening pace as climate change accelerates unprecedented ice melt nationwide, one expert says. Between September 2024 and September 2025, the 5km-long ice cap, situated in Obergoms, Switzerland, has lost approximately six metres of ice, according to Matthias Huss, the Director of Glacier Monitoring Switzerland (GLAMOS).
