Canada’s 55,000 postal workers went back on the picket lines Friday, one day after the federal government proposed sweeping changes to the postal service. Canada Post facilities across the country were shut down. With only a few exceptions, mail is no longer being accepted or processed. And, Israel’s prime minister took centre stage at the United Nations on Friday, sharing some harsh words for Canada. Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the Canadian government's recent decision to recognize a Palestinian state, warning it would encourage attacks on Jewish communities. Canadian officials remained seated throughout the speech, but many other diplomats did not. Meanwhile, Canada's Prime Minister was in the British capital, seeking to strengthen trade and defence ties as Ottawa looks to reduce reliance on the U.S. Plus, since the beginning of this year, Canadian consumers have endured U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs and threatening rhetoric. Many protested with their pocketbooks, turning away from travelling to, and buying from the U.S. New polling suggests the 'Buy Canadian' trend has stuck, eight months on.
