Fire safety week targets lithium-ion batteries

As part of this year’s fire prevention week in Prince Edward County, the local fire department is sounding the alarm about a hidden hazard in many homes. Lithium-Ion batteries power many of our most used electronics — but officials say they can overheat, catch fire, or even explode if damaged or improperly charged.
