Trump says ‘we ended war’ in Gaza, calling ceasefire ‘momentous breakthrough’

Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, a ceasefire and hostage deal that could be a first step toward ending a two-year-old conflict that has roiled the Middle East. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the ceasefire is a “momentous breakthrough” in the Middle East. He said that in his view, “we ended the war in Gaza” and “created peace.” He announced that Gaza hostages should be released “early next week” on Monday or Tuesday and that he hopes to attend a signing ceremony in Egypt.
