Canadian Coast Guard joins Department of National Defence

The Canadian Coast Guard and its 126 vessels are known for providing search and rescue services in Canadian waters. And now it’s adding new duties by transitioning to the Department of National Defence. The federal government says the change will help better protect Canada’s coastline including in the Arctic. As Heidi Petracek reports, it helps move the needle on Canada’s international commitments.
