During a visit to the Knesset on Monday to speak about the developing Israel-Hamas peace deal, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that Israeli President Isaac Herzog pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his ongoing corruption trial. Netanyahu was indicted in 2019 in three cases, including one involving allegations of bribery from businessmen offering cash, champagne, and cigarettes. Despite his largely ceremonial role in Israel, Herzog has the power to grant pardons under exceptional circumstances.
