Canada’s annual inflation rate increased to 2.4 per cent in September, mainly because of prices at the pumps and food inflation. Even though gas prices have been declining on an annual basis — helped by Ottawa’s decision to scrap the carbon tax — prices this September are still higher than they were at this time in 2024, due to worries about the global economy.
