Canada鈥檚 food banks are sounding the alarm, releasing a staggering new report that shows monthly food bank visits have doubled since 2019. 鈥淲e鈥檙e now seeing 2.2 million visits to food banks in Canada every month鈥� what really stood out to me was the number of people who are employed who were coming to food banks so that number has been growing 鈥� one in five people have jobs鈥� their incomes aren鈥檛 matching their expenses,鈥� says Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada. Beardsley adds that 鈥渁bout a third of the folks relying on food banks are children.鈥�
