Canada鈥檚 food banks are sounding the alarm, releasing a staggering new report that shows monthly food bank visits have doubled since 2019. 鈥淲e鈥檙e now seeing 2.2 million visits to food banks in Canada every month鈥 what really stood out to me was the number of people who are employed who were coming to food banks so that number has been growing 鈥 one in five people have jobs鈥 their incomes aren鈥檛 matching their expenses,鈥 says Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada. Beardsley adds that 鈥渁bout a third of the folks relying on food banks are children.鈥
