Calgary’s new city council got its first look at the proposed 2026 budget on Monday ahead of deliberations later this month. The proposal is the final year of a four-year budget approved by the previous city council and includes new spending and a 3.6-per cent overall property tax increase. As Adam MacVicar reports, Calgary’s mayor wants to cut the tax hike in half.
