U.S. government shutdown impacts flights as air traffic controllers stop coming to work

South of the border, the weather could add to the turbulence surrounding the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Thousands of flights have been cancelled after air traffic controllers and security staff – who had been working without pay for weeks – stopped showing up. As Jackson Proskow explains, it now looks like the shutdown could finally be nearing its end.
