Five federal byelections were scheduled across the country on Monday, including one in Saint-Laurent. Known as a Liberal stronghold over the past 30 years, recently elected Liberal nominee Emmanuella Lambropoulos won the nomination amidst controversy that kept Mayor Alan DeSousa from running. Lambropoulos also upset former Liberal caucus member Yolande James. The byelection was scheduled after Stéphane Dion was removed from his seat the earlier this year. Global’s Felicia Parrillo reports.
