Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms spoke emotionally about the death of Rayshard Brooks, who was shot and killed after a scuffle with police Friday, saying that to hear him want to go home for his daughter’s birthday “breaks my heart.” She said she can’t do anything to change what happened but will try and continue to make sure “it doesn’t happen again,” adding that his death “pissed me off” because she said the incident didn’t have to result in his death.
