Hundreds of protesters gathered again this week in Washington, D.C., calling for the removal of a memorial Abraham Lincoln statue which celebrates the Emancipation Proclamation. Those pushing for its removal say it overlooks contributions made by African Americans to end slavery, and argue its depiction of a freed Black slave kneeling next to Lincoln is demeaning.
