Anti-government protests were held in towns all over Belarus on Sunday, with protesters calling on President Alexander Lukashenko to step down and for an end to police violence. Lukashenko also spoke to several thousand supporters at a rally in Minsk on Sunday, rejecting calls to hold a new presidential election and accusing NATO of massing troops on his country’s western border.
