Right now paramedics are required to bring patients who call 9-1-1 to their local hospital's emergency department. But that's about to change in Central Ontario, thanks to a year-long pilot project which includes Peterborough County/City Paramedics. The program would allow paramedics to treat palliative care, mental health or patients experiencing addiction issues at home, or direct them to an alternative care option.
